WHAT AREAS DO WE COVER?  Reads Flooring covers Wrexham, Chester, Oswestry, Whitchurch, Shrewsbury and all of North Wales.  Please call for further details or visit our Huge Showroom.

WHICH UNDERLAY IS BEST?  Laminate floors are always installed floating and an underlay must always be used.  Depending on your personal scenario there are different underlay's available to suit.  A DPM (Damp Proof Membrane) is incorporated in some underlay's, these are used on concrete/asphalt sub floors to stop moisture coming through into your new floor.

Thermal insulation underlay is also available, this may be required above unheated areas (eg above a garage).  A soft board underlay is used to even out minor discrepancies in your sub floor.  Acoustic underlay’s are used to minimise reflection sound (sound you hear when you are walking on your floor) and transmission sound (sound you hear when someone walks on the floor in the room above).

HOW DO I CLEAN MY LAMINATE FLOOR?  To keep your new laminate floor in tip top condition, it’s important you follow the maintenance advice provided upon purchase.  General day-to-day maintenance includes vacuuming, sweeping and dust-mopping.  Specialist laminate flooring cleaning solutions are also available – these are best sprayed onto a mop-head before you wipe the floor clean.

IS LAMINATE WATER RESISTANT?  Reads flooring supply one brand of flooring that is 100% water resistant.  All of our standard laminate flooring is not water resistant though moisture resistant flooring is available - Quick Step Lagune.

IS LAMINATE SCRATCH RESISTANT?  The top layer of our laminate flooring makes it resistant to stains, wear, impact, scratches, burns and household chemicals, although care must be taken when moving heavy furniture.  If a scratch is caused or a dent in the we can either repair or replace a board for a fee.  Felt pads are available to put under feet and chairs etc…

IS IS TRUE THAT LAMINATE FLOORING CAN HELP REDUCE ALLERGIES?  Yes people with allergies often find their symptoms much reduced.  This is because the closed joints between the boards stop allergens like dust and dust mites which thrive on carpets, etc from building up, meaning they cannot survive on clean-surface floors.

CAN I USE LAMINATE ON STAIRS?  Laminate flooring is becoming increasingly popular as a stair renovation system.  At Reads Flooring we recommend this installation to be carried out by a Master Installer.  Please ask a member of staff for more details.

HOW DO I CLEAN MY ENGINEERED FLOORING?  Most engineered wood floors feature a protective finish, which allows you to mop the floor with a slightly damp (not dripping wet) sponge mop.  A twice-yearly application of a specialist engineered wood floor cleaning product will also help maintain the stain-resistant qualities of the flooring.

IS ENGINEERED FLOORING WATER RESISTANT?  The surfaces of engineered floors are resistant to spillages.  However, any spills should be mopped up immediately otherwise water may seep between the boards and, if left for a long time, can get beneath the finish and discolour the wood.

IS ENGINEERED FLOORING SCRATCH RESISTANT?  Thanks to their tough finish, engineered floors are virtually scratch resistant.  This means general wear and tear from everyday use should not show up on your new floor.  However, heavy-duty contact, such as moving heavy furniture, etc, can cause damage and deep scratches. But these can be repaired.

HOW DO I CLEAN MY SOLID WOOD FLOOR?  Most solid wood floors feature a protective finish, which allows you to mop the floor with a slightly damp (not dripping wet) sponge mop.  A twice-yearly application of a specialist solid wood floor cleaning product will also help maintain the stain-resistant qualities of the flooring.
